Not everything must be written in flowery prose.
Sometimes you need to bury your feet
in the muck and just watch the years
pass by as you try to make sense of your ‘here’.
With the words that anchor you to the ground,
you try not to let it
drive over you with its shiny pools
of false hope, that’s nothing but grief.
But you cannot let your poems die
or your reality incarcerate you.
If need be, I plead you to howl and cry.
Or find a fascinating muse
that would embrace the truest you.
